Karnatak University, Dharwad was established by Bombay legislature of the erstwhile Bombay Presidency through the Karnatak University Act 1949. It became a statutory University in 1950. Bagalkot, Belgaum, Bijapur, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri and Uttar Kannada districts fall under the University's jurisdiction. The University has many Post Graduate centres. It offers courses in the faculties of Arts, Commerce, Education, Law, Management, Science and Technology and Social Sciences.
